I am to say the least dissapointed by the Mauritius Blog Tracker since it has been revamped.
I know that it is more colourful than the default wordpress theme but I am kind of nostalgic of how easy it was to read the aggregation of Mauritian Blogs on the homepage itself. Sadly now we are provided only with the title of the post and we require an extra click to access a preview of the content. This extra click is truly a pain and can hamper better dissemination of the blogs’ content.
I am also concerned as a blogger, I need to be really careful when picking the post’s title since it is the only way left to attract the reader, we can no longer rely on images or the preview. Also it seems that there is a delay before a post is featured on the tracker. My last post took about 2 days before being included, in the past it would have taken much less time. Another queer thing is that some of my posts never appear on the tracker. I suspect that the tracker is being moderated. That would explain the delay and the censoring of posts.
I understand that there may be spammers or people who do create objectionable content. Even us bloggers do moderate comments. But it is of my firm belief that any revamping should go towards increasing the usability of the service and not to add additional restrictions.Would it be a copyright issue? What are your views?

Hi Kailash.
As we already know, Mauritius Block Tracker was displaying the contents of all the posts on the home page itself.
As a blogger, you should be concerned about this since duplicated content of your posts is very bad for search engine optimization. A very simple example is that mauritius blog tracker search results may appear before your blog itself. I was against this complete display of posts and I kindly asked the owner to avoid displaying our content, but instead make use of the excerpt.
Well, the extra click can indeed be sometimes avoided, did you try to contact the owner to make your suggestion? I am sure that you will be heard.
A tip from me:
Why don’t you subscribe to the rss feeds of the MBT? Its more simple and you will get all the posts excerpt directly into ur reader.
As for the delay or moderation, I dont really know but I believe that it is a plugin which automatically does the job.
Anyway, MBT has been doing a great job since long and very recently, Mauritius Blog List is also giving a big hand in promoting Mauritian blogs.
@Yashvin
I agree MBT has been doing a great job.
As for displaying the full content issue, I believe that MBT aggregates content through RSS feeds made available by bloggers. A blogger can at his discretion decide whether to make the whole post or an excerpt available on the RSS.
Think it would be a good idea to have the excerpt on the homepage itself.
I agree with yashvin. If the whole article is on the homepage, it might be duplication of content, which is not gud.
The idea of subscribing is good, but then, MBT will live only via RSS. I’ve a suggestion that could make everybody happy.
List the Titles of the articles + A Picture illustrating the article. This would keep the homepage clean, solve this problem :

Although bloggers who do not use meaningful pictures in their articles would be at lost. but i think most of us do.
Another issue.
I contact MBT several times so that i could get sozzz.net listed there. but i got no reply.
Worst, i can see my previous posts from s4ndeep.wordpress.com listed there. BUT IT REDIRECTS TO ANOTHER DORMANT BLOG when you click “read more”.
I just notified them via email and twitter and in this comment. I hope one of these 3 reaches them.
Ohh.. that was long..
Rock ON!!
@Kailash : nice suggestion!
@Sun : Good luck!
1st, Thanks to Yashvin for the comment on the Mauritius Blog List
I want to improve the visual aspect of the Mauritius Blog List, and of course add a commenting and rating facility, but this is very difficult to implement on blogger … i am experimenting with wordpress, but this takes time. I hope to have something functional by the end of the month
